Acupuncture, Intuitive Bodywork & Energy Healing

I practice a range of modalities including Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Japanese-style acupuncture (Kiiko Matsumoto and Shimamura Sensei, based on the classical texts of Chinese Medicine), and Five Element-style acupuncture to treat spiritual diseases like codependency. I combine acupuncture treatments with Chinese medicine modalities such as Tuina, Zen Shiatsu, moxibustion and Chinese herbal medicine and supplements from Standard Process/Mediherb formulations.

I enjoy incorporating intuitive bodywork into many of my treatments ranging from energy work (off the body, similar to Reiki but not identical) to massage (deep tissue, Tuina) to Craniosacral therapy (light tension fascial unwinding).

With full presence and deep listening, I will tune into what your body needs in the moment and offer space, touch and presence to allow the system to release, let go and unwind. I love to guide my clients in gentle breathing exercises to help the body reset and heal.

Combining acupuncture with bodywork sets the scene for transformation to occur on deeper levels, and I believe these modalities in concert provide a complementary set of diagnostic tools from which to explore the landscape of the body. All treatments blend acupuncture, energy work, bodywork and offer the potential to treat with Chinese herbal medicine and whole-foods supplements.

As a person in recovery from codependency through my work with Codependents Anonymous, a 12 Step Program, I feel particularly suited to helping you uncover the root of a loving, innately good presence that each human being is endowed with.

My approach is gentle, intuitive and dynamic – I select acupuncture points that your body responds to in the moment in order to address the root cause of imbalances. As a Chinese medicine practitioner, I feel extremely privileged to be granted insight into your life’s experiences, perspectives and challenges, and I look forward to supporting you as a guide on a path to wellness.

Treatments for Kids & Babies with Chinese Medicine, Needle-free Acupuncture & Energy Healing

Acupuncture, energy healing, and bodywork offer gentle yet powerful tools to support babies' and children's well-being, potentially preventing long-term hardship. These modalities address imbalances at a foundational level, promoting optimal development.

For infants, these therapies can soothe colic, improve sleep, and ease digestive issues. Gentle bodywork can release birth-related tension, supporting healthy musculoskeletal development. Energy healing can address emotional distress, fostering a sense of calm and security.

In older children, these approaches can help manage anxiety, ADHD, and sleep disorders. Acupuncture can strengthen the immune system, reducing susceptibility to illness. Bodywork can address postural imbalances and pain related to growth spurts or sports activities. Energy healing can support emotional regulation and resilience.

By addressing imbalances early, these therapies can prevent acute issues from becoming chronic conditions. They promote self-regulation, stress management, and overall well-being, laying the foundation for a healthier, happier life. While research is ongoing, many parents and practitioners report positive outcomes with these gentle and holistic approaches.

What to expect from a first visit:

During baby/kiddo's initial visit we will chat about concerns, hopes and wishes for your child's development. We will discuss any issues that have arisen in pregnancy, labor and development. The treatment will be quick as baby's energy is pure yang and is easy to help and inspire change. Whether it is getting over a cold or frequent colds, allergies, rashes or skin concerns, digestion, sleep issues, growing pains or emotional distress, there are ways acupuncture can help!

I use energy healing and massage on babies (no needles) and sticker press needles (like a small grain of sand) or non-insertive needles that contact the skin (teishin) to help set them up for success in the long term. Treating kids with acupuncture is preventative medicine for future wellbeing!

Treatment Plan:

At age 7 months and older, 6 treatments - 2x per week for 3 weeks is recommended to set the system up for longevity, health and wellbeing. It may seem like a lot of treatment, but each session is short, fun and interactive. Mom, Dad and/or other caretakers will be present with Dr. Flohr, DACM, as she playfully interacts with your child applying treatment, which may include energy work, body work, channel massage to address channel blockages and structural imbalances. Pediatrics possess an abundance of pure yang energy, and it is my life’s work to help deliver acupuncture to humans on the path as early as possible to prevent disease and hardship. Kids born of this generation are the ones who will help change the world!

Additional Information:

As part of a baby or kiddo’s treatment plan, I am happy to provide brief lessons to instruct parents and caregivers on body work techniques to apply daily after bath time to help connect through touch at no additional cost :) Returning agency to caregivers to help in radical ways is something I feel deeply passionate about having had a surgery when I was three days old. Receiving treatment during the first year of my life would have prevented many chronic imbalances and emotional hardship from manifesting. I want to equip parents with safe and effective tools to help their kiddos lead easeful and healthy lives

Microneedling (Collagen-Induction Therapy)

Microneedling, or collagen-induction therapy (CIT), is a minimally invasive procedure aimed at generating collagen and elastin, while smoothing, firming and toning skin. Some benefits may include: reduction of fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, stretch marks, and enlarged pores, lightening of areas of hyperpigmentation and rosacea, hair regeneration, and increase the absorption of facial serums and moisturizers by 300%. It can safely be done on the face, neck, chest, hands, scalp, arms, stomach and thighs.

How it works:

Single-use, sterile cartridges with 16 fine needles barely puncture the skin to create micro-channels on the skin surface, triggering the body’s natural immune healing response. With each treatment, patients can expect a brief intake followed by application of a numbing cream, a full body acupuncture treatment while the numbing cream takes effect, application of a serum containing hyaluronic acid, vitamin C and collagen, followed by the microneedling procedure, which lasts about 15-25 minutes depending on the areas of the body addressed. Unlike having this procedure done at a medical spa, the addition of a full acupuncture treatment will allow your body to begin to transform and heal from the inside out.

To note:

Skin may be red and sensitive for up to 48 hours, and the most common side effect is bruising, peeling and mild irritation, which should dissipate within a week following the procedure. Clients should avoid sun exposure and strenuous exercise, along with makeup, retinols, and topical Vitamin C, for 24-48 hours following treatment.

Microneedling is not recommended for individuals using blood thinners, Botox injections or fillers. It is also not advised for those with moderate to severe skin conditions, bleeding disorders, acute oral herpes outbreak, acute flu or cold symptoms, keloid scars or during pregnancy.

Noticeable and long-lasting results are best seen after a series of 4-6 monthly microneedling procedures. Please see our rates for available packages and add-ons.

Microneedling is offered on the second Saturday of each month - please contact me to schedule.
